Data Consultancy

The solutions developed by Imass as part of its strategy for the Fire Services are based on its Data First approach.  Whilst software and hardware change at a rapid rate, the key to continual successful operation is through the management of critical data and its timely availability.  Imass recognises this key factor and has built its software components with this bigger picture in mind.

Imass has many years of data consultancy experience within the fire sector (and elsewhere), advising clients on data issues prior to purchase of software, thus ensuring solutions fit into their corporate data strategy avoiding the difficulties associated with data duplication and integrity.

Specifically, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) have become a fundamental part of mainstream IT and provide the key to effective data capture associated with locations and representation of such information visually on maps to enhance the decision making process.

Historically GIS 'point solutions' have been introduced to satisfy departmental needs.  Often these fall into decay or fail to deliver because of the data quality.  Proprietary formats have resulted in limited access to and utilisation of expensive assets, creating 'information islands'.  Not only is there an existing need for corporate spatial data, but new demands for sharing information with partners in the broader community.

As a company experienced in data migration, Imass has also worked successfully with fire sector clients on projects involving data transfer from redundant systems, whereby new solutions are being deployed and data must be safeguarded.
