Imass Hydrant
Management (Hydra)
Imass Hydra allows you to
efficiently and effectively manage your hydrants in one
system and if required by one person. This offers
improved information on hydrant ownership, location and
status, ensuring that Fire Fighters receive the best
hydrant information available at the incident location.
Imass
Hydra consists of three components - A Desktop
Information System (DIS), an office based GIS and a
field Information System (FIS) which also incorporates
GIS.
Management
of hydrant information is provided for in Hydra DIS and
Hydra GIS. There is an extensive range of
functionality allowing you to manage every aspect of
hydrant information from its initial proposed status
through to routine inspections, defect management and
abandonment.
The GIS puts this
information in the context of the real world (eg.
risks), enabling real world factors to be taken into
account when reviewing hydrant location or spacing and
the opportunity to integrate additional spatial
information.
Hydrant details may be
extracted from Hydra's central database via Hydra DIS
onto the brigade's FIS computer(s), which are used to
identify hydrant locations precisely. Hydra FIS
displays the locations of hydrants on Ordnance Survey
mapping utilising touch screen PC's. The operator
can then examine hydrants on a specific 'walk' and
verify their exact locations. This data can then
be imported back into Hydra's central database.
The facility exists to
export hydrant information to in-vehicle systems and
mobilising GIS.
Benefits
-
Significant financial
savings - management of hydrants can be achieved
using less manpower at less cost;
-
The ability to
visually review the location of hydrants allows the
optimum distribution of hydrants to be achieved;
-
Less vulnerability to claims
due to better
information that can be accessed quickly;
-
A faster
response to develop schemes - in minutes rather than
days in some cases.
Imass
Hydra is now arguably, the basis for the leading Hydrant
Management solution in the UK Fire Service. In the
eight years since its development, 19 Brigades have
purchased the product, some as part of an integrated
suite and some as a single solution for integration with
other systems.
