OIS
has been specifically designed for the Fire Service in
collaboration with Fire and Rescue Service clients.
The interface supports the full range of operational
information requirements and other operational needs and
provides;
Mapping
of the area of operation (Brigade
area plus the neighbouring fringe
areas as required) at a range of
scales. This can be
invaluable in assisting front-line
personnel to locate incidents in
difficult areas and under
difficult circumstances (eg. at
night in poorly-lit areas without
adequate road signing);
-
Premises
Hazard information (eg. 1 (1) d records) related to
premises and otherr locations;
-
Generic
information related to general hazards, including
Guides to Safe Systems of Working;
-
Chemdata
-
Water
supplies information (hydrants and other sources);
-
Motorway,
railway and river routes and access points;
-
Oil
and gas pipeline routes and key locations;
-
Vehicle
and aeroplane specifications;
-
First
Aid information;
-
Information
about the community (eg. a register of people at
special risk because of disability, age, etc.);
-
Routing
information;
-
Skills
and experience of operational personnel, etc.
OIS
is designed to show information not only about the risk
premises that may be the source of the incident but also
display adjacent information. This enables retrieval of
the information about these premises in addition to the
incident premises.
The system is used within a
high-pressure environment and must therefore be very
simple to use. It is intuitive and requires minimal
training - making it a practical option for retained
crews and keeping Brigades’ training costs to a
minimum.
Users
are presented with simple, uncluttered screens with only
the options needed to ensure ease of use. Menu options
are consistently displayed as large buttons and are
selected by the Fire Fighter simply touching the screen.
With a single touch, the user can switch between maps,
premises information, CAD plans, Brigade Orders,
Chemdata, etc. The mapping facility includes length
measurement, giving the result in metres or
hose-lengths. Area measurement facilities are also
provided.
OIS provides an easy to use interface
to the Chemdata database within the in-vehicle solution
and within office environments (e.g. Fire Control) if
required. Imass is a registered developer with the
suppliers of the Chemdata product and receives
pre-releases of new versions in advance of users to
ensure product compatibility.
