Imass' Emergency Planning Application, STEPS

Software tool for emergency planners

Confronted by natural disasters, the continuing threat of terrorist activity and new hazards such as avian flu, first and second line emergency support agencies are expected to respond effectively to a widening range of incident types.

To help meet these demands, the systems integrator Imass has developed planning software which provides an efficient and flexible way of creating and implementing emergency plans in pressurized environments.

Using the company's Strategic Emergency Planning Solution (STEPS), organizations can create plans that deal with various levels of dynamic emergencies.  These provide essential information in support of responses to incidents which may range from everyday events to natural disasters and terrorist activities.

STEPS integrates cordons, points of interest and data overlays such as OS Address Point, census data, CAD plans, aerial photography, flood levels etc., into powerful mapping capabilities.  Additional functionality can include live CCTV feeds, audit trail and address look-up.

When used with Smart Board tools, STEPS can record details of an incident as it develops, offering practical features such as a playback facility and freehand drawing.
